A speaker once Said
In the Afterlife, there are many obstacles and surprises we might not be expecting. One of those is that a man will build bridges, and others will cross that bridge on the Day of Judgment, but when he tries to cross, the bridge will collapse and he will fall in. That is similar to the person who passes knowledge to others, tells others what to do - when they don't do it themselves
Other than the fact that this is riyaa (showing-off), it is hypocrisy and a minor form of shirk. One must not always tell others to do things they do not do themselves. Practicing what one preaches is necessary in order for us to build a bridge we ourselves can cross, then invite others to follow in pursuit.
